Make your voice heard!

Is there a bill you’re interested in making your voice heard on, or do you want to support legislation that I am currently authoring? If so, follow the below instructions to be a part of the legislative process!

If you have any questions about these steps, the status of a specific bill, or would like more information on bills that I am authoring, reach out to my Capitol office at (916) 319-2040. You can also search for bill information at https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/.

How to Submit Position Letter

  1. Create a letter of support:
  • As you develop your letter and reasons you're taking a position, if your letter is for one of my bills and you would like to add data or background information, reach out to my Capitol Office and we can help.
  • If you are submitting on behalf of an organization, make sure to place it on your organization’s letterhead.
  • Include your signature block at the bottom of the letter.
  • Note your stance of either support or oppose in the letter.
  • Personal stories are important!
  1. Create an account with California Advocates:
  • To be included in a committee analysis, the California Legislature will only accept letters received through an online portal system called California Advocates.
  • Create an account here, if you do not already have one.

  • Ensure that the name of the committee where the bill is currently located is selected. This is typically the top choice in the dropdown menu; however, if the bill is currently on the Senate or Assembly floor, choose the first committee where the bill was heard in the legislative house it’s currently in. This will ensure that the appropriate legislative staff receives a copy of your letter and updates the analysis to reflect it.
