Assemblywoman Schiavo Moves 2026 Legislative Affordability and Safety Package Forward

SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo today announced significant progress on her 2026 legislative package, advancing a broad set of bills focused on affordability, public safety, consumer protection, veterans services, and accountability.

“Our legislative package is focused on delivering results our community can really feel—lowering costs, protecting families, supporting veterans and small businesses, and holding bad actors accountable,” said Assemblywoman Schiavo. “We’ve cleared the first big hurdle with 13 bills passing out of policy committees, and I’m excited to keep up the fight for policies that improve people’s lives in real, tangible ways.”

In The Senate

• AB 2147 – Sexual Predator Accountability Act
  Helps protect and support crime survivors and improves prosecution of serial sexual offenses across multiple counties
• AB 28 (2 year bill) – Landfill Safety Act
  Requires early warnings and state oversight to prevent public health disasters like the Chiquita Canyon Landfill.
• AB 539 (2 year bill) – Timely Healthcare Act
  Eliminates unnecessary and costly wait times and repetitive insurance approvals for medications prescribed for up to one year.

• AB 1660 – Protecting Families from Financial Delay Act
  Ensures financial institutions promptly comply with public guardians’ requests to turn over assets and information, protecting vulnerable individuals and holding institutions accountable when they delay.
